My special branch of study was Computer Science (Datalogi) and I mostly read courses from the Computer Communication and Computer Science divisions at the Luleå University of Technology.
My Master Thesis was about compression of text-based, signaling protocols such as SIP/SDP and RTSP/SDP. I designed an algorithm suited to compress packets generated by these protocols. Naturally, the results could also be applied to other text-based protocols such as HTTP, although it hasn't been tested. The outcome of the thesis work was patented in the US and Europe.
The final course before the Master Thesis, the Networking Project, touched areas such as packet queueing, bandwidth brokers, filters and routers. It was really fun, because the course also entailed much kernel hacking (FreeBSD).
Besides computers, I also take a great deal of interest in certain foreign languages and cultures, such as Japanese and German. I'd like to acquire at least some basic skills in Dutch, Italian and possibly Esperanto as well.
Below you can find (most of) the courses I've read. There is a complete list, with grades, available in swedish.
